About ByteMyTech
What is ByteMyTech?
ByteMyTech is an IT services company for dental clinics in Ontario, based at 6-2400 Dundas Street West in Mississauga. It looks after clinic computers, imaging workstations, practice software, phones, internet, cybersecurity, cloud and backups.
What IT does a dental clinic need?
Most clinics need help desk support, 24/7 monitoring, a managed firewall, email security, reliable phones and internet, imaging and practice software support, and tested local and cloud backups that include imaging. ByteMyTech provides all of these under one monthly plan.
Which areas does ByteMyTech serve?
ByteMyTech supports dental clinics across the Greater Toronto Area and Golden Horseshoe, including Mississauga, Toronto, Brampton, Oakville, Vaughan, Markham, Burlington and Hamilton.
How much does dental IT support cost?
It depends on the number of operatories, computers, staff and locations. ByteMyTech quotes a fixed monthly price after a free site visit, so there are no surprise bills.
Do you work with our imaging and practice software vendors?
Yes. ByteMyTech supports the computers, storage and networks that dental imaging and practice management software run on, and deals with your vendors directly when an issue is on their side.
Is our clinic's IT PHIPA compliant?
Ontario dentists are health information custodians under PHIPA. ByteMyTech sets up access control, encryption, audit trails and backups that support those obligations. This is technical help, not legal advice.
How do we switch to ByteMyTech?
Book a free site visit. We review every system, give you a written plan, then take over support, including passwords, licences and vendor contacts, with no gap in service.
First questions
Why do our X-rays open slowly in some rooms?
Imaging files are large. It is usually slow storage or a busy network, not the software. We measure it and fix the bottleneck.
Our sensor keeps disconnecting. Is it broken?
Rarely. USB power and drivers changed by updates are the usual causes. We fix it and stop updates from undoing it.
Can you work with our software company?
Yes. When the problem is on their side we call them, so your front desk doesn't have to.
What does it cost?
A fixed monthly price, based on chairs, computers and locations. We quote it after a free visit.
Do we have to replace everything?
No. We keep what works, fix what doesn't, and plan replacements so nothing surprises you.
What happens after hours?
Monitoring runs around the clock and updates happen when the clinic is closed. Call the same number any time.
Managed IT
What does managed IT include for a dental clinic?
Help desk support for your team, 24/7 monitoring, updates and maintenance, hardware and software management, and dealing with vendors such as your practice software and imaging companies, for one monthly fee.
Can you take over from our current IT company?
Yes. We start with a free site visit, document everything, then handle the switch, including passwords, licences and vendor contacts.
Do you replace our office manager's "IT hat"?
That is the idea. Your team calls one number and gets back to patients.
Imaging & practice software
Can you fix sensors that keep disconnecting?
Usually yes. Dropouts often come from USB power, drivers or Windows updates. We test and fix the whole chain and stop updates from breaking it again.
Do you support ABELDent, Tracker, ClearDent and Dentrix?
We support the computers, servers, storage and network that practice management systems like ABELDent, Tracker, ClearDent, Dentrix, Open Dental, Curve and Maxident run on, and we deal with the software vendor directly when an issue is on their side.
What about CDAnet and ITRANS claims?
Claims depend on a working connection between your practice software and the network. We keep that path healthy and work with your software vendor when claims stop sending.
Why do X-rays open slowly in some rooms?
Common causes are slow storage, an overloaded network or old workstations. We measure it and fix the real bottleneck.
Phones & internet
Can we keep our phone number?
Yes. Numbers can almost always be moved to a new phone system. We handle the transfer with the carrier.
Should patient Wi-Fi be separate from the clinic network?
Yes. Patients and visitors should never share a network with your practice software, imaging or payment terminals.
What happens if our internet goes down?
With a backup line, phones and cloud systems switch over automatically, so the front desk keeps working.
Cybersecurity
Are dental clinics targeted by hackers?
Yes. Clinics store health and payment information and depend on their systems to treat patients, which makes ransomware attractive to criminals.
What is the most important security step for a dental office?
Turn on two-factor login for email and remote access, keep tested backups that ransomware cannot reach, and train staff to spot scam emails.
Do you help with PHIPA?
We set up access control, encryption, audit trails and backups that support your obligations as a health information custodian. This is technical help, not legal advice.
Cloud
Should our dental clinic move to the cloud?
Often, but not always. Email and files usually belong in Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. Whether practice and imaging software moves depends on the vendor and your internet. We review it on a free site visit.
Is Microsoft 365 backed up automatically?
Not in the way most clinics expect. Recovering deleted or encrypted mail and files needs a separate backup. We add one.
Can the office manager work from home securely?
Yes, with hosted desktops or secure remote access and two-factor login, so patient data stays off personal devices.
Backup & recovery
How often should a dental clinic back up?
At least nightly, with one copy off-site or in the cloud. Busy clinics back up practice data several times a day. Test a restore regularly.
Are our X-rays and scans included in backups?
They should be, and they are often missed because the files are large and stored separately. We make sure imaging is included.
Would our backups survive ransomware?
Only if at least one copy is off-site and cannot be changed or deleted from the clinic network. We set up backups ransomware cannot reach.
Consulting & training
Can you set up IT for a new dental clinic?
Yes. We plan and install the network, Wi-Fi, phones, computers, imaging workstations and software connections so the clinic is ready on opening day.
Do you support multi-location dental groups?
Yes. We connect locations securely, standardise equipment and give every site the same support.
